| The lineage continues...Deepak with his Guru Kanak Rele and his disciple Rupak Mehta |
Deepak Mazumdar, Bharatanatyam exponent, guru and founder of Brahmnaad Academy for Performing Arts in Mumbai, celebrated his 60th birthday by honouring his gurus and other eminent personalities in the arts. Brahmabodhi -- a magazine of art & culture -- was launched on the occasion. Guru Kanak Rele and Hema Malini were honoured with the Brahma Ratna Award, and Darshana Jhaveri, Sunil Kothari, B.M. Sundaram, Asit Desai and Sandhya Purecha received the title of Brahma Padma. Talented young dancers bagged the Kanak Bhushan awards, and Deepak Mazumdar was conferred the Kanak Ratna Award by his disciples.
