Natyanjali Trust’s 13th annual Nartaka dance festival for male classical dancers was held on 10 and 11 October 2019 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai. Bharatanatyam dancer G. Narendra received the Nartaka Award for 2019 from Prof. A. Janardhanan. An alumnus of Kalakshetra, Narendra is an experienced dancer and is well-known for his choreographic skills. He is the Founder-Director of Avigna Dance Ensemble. He has toured the world and has won critical acclaim for his work in the arts. He has choreographed several dance productions including ‘Abhyasa’, ‘The Living Tree’ and ‘Silappadikaram’.
