Suki Learns to Dance (Level 1) is a dance-based activity book for children conceived and authored by Bharatanatyam dancer and writer JagyaseniChatterjee, and published by GIRI Trading Agency Pvt Ltd., price Rs. 225. The book was released by S. Janaki, Editor-in-Chief, Sruti magazine, and the first two copies were presented to dancer LakshmiRamaswamy and storyteller Janaki Sabhesan, on 3 August at the Lakshmi Giri Convention Hall, Mylapore in Chennai. The 56-page book is led by the cartoon character Suki -- a parrot who is a dancer. It has been painted by artist KeshavVenkataraghavan. It is a handy medium for parents to engage the children in meaningful activities that could also help children learn concepts of Bharatanatyam. Through this book, even parents would get an idea of how elaborate and intensive dance training can be and thereby help children practice and understand comfortably.
